Second baseman Placido Polanco had 2 base hits at the ballpark as the
Tombstone Huckleberries beat the North Dallas Fire Ants in 10 innings by the
count of 2 to 0.
Neither pitching staff had allowed a run after the regulation nine innings.
Tombstone won the hard fought contest in the 10th inning. After an out was
recorded, Mike Lowell got things rolling when he doubled. Mike Napoli
stepped into the batter's box and he stroked a base-hit. Napoli took second
on the throw. Polanco then stroked a single. Ichiro Suzuki got his turn
next, but he was a strikeout victim. Cesar Izturis dug into the batters box
next, but he struck out. North Dallas proved to be no trouble in the bottom
of the 10th.
Steven Jackson(2-3) picked up the victory, allowing no runs in 2 innings.
Jackson was helped out by Jose Valverde who recorded his 7th save. Mark
Buehrle(6-3) ended up with the loss.
